Washing

Follow these steps to keep colours vivid and fibres strong:

  • Machine wash cold — use a gentle or delicate cycle at 30°C or below
  • Turn inside out before washing to protect the printed design from abrasion
  • Use mild detergent — avoid formulas with bleach, optical brighteners, or fabric softeners (they can coat fibres and reduce elasticity)
  • Do not bleach — bleach permanently damages colour and weakens the weave
  • Wash with similar colours to prevent dye transfer
  • Use a mesh laundry bag when washing alongside items with zippers, hooks, or Velcro

Drying

  • Tumble dry on low heat or lay flat to air dry — both are safe
  • Avoid high-heat drying — it causes shrinkage and breaks down elastic fibres over time
  • Do not wring or twist — gently press out excess water instead
  • Air drying in the shade is the gentlest method and best preserves print colours
  • Avoid drying in direct sunlight for extended periods, which can fade colours

Ironing & Storage

  • Do not iron directly on the printed design — if ironing is necessary, turn the sock inside out and use the lowest heat setting
  • Store socks folded flat or loosely rolled — avoid hanging by the toe as repeated tension stretches the cuff
  • Keep away from sharp objects that could snag or pull the weave
  • Store in a cool, dry drawer away from direct sunlight to preserve colour intensity

How to Remove Tag Damage

We recommend cutting tags with small, sharp scissors as close to the seam as possible rather than pulling or tearing them. Pulling can distort the cuff or cause a small run in the knit. Lei Lei Socks is not responsible for damage resulting from improper tag removal.

Extending the Life of Your Socks

  • Rotate between pairs — wearing the same pair daily accelerates wear at the heel and toe
  • Trim toenails regularly to reduce snags and holes at the toe
  • Wash after every wear — sweat and body oils break down cotton fibres over time if left to sit
  • If a small hole develops at the toe, a quick hand-stitch can add many more wears to the life of the sock
  • Pair with moisture-wicking footwear to reduce friction and preserve the fabric

About Our Materials

All Lei Lei Socks are made from 80% combed cotton · 17% polyamide · 3% elastane, printed with low-impact, OEKO-TEX certified dyes. The combed cotton is softer than standard cotton because the shorter, rougher fibres have been removed. The polyamide reinforces the structure, and the elastane keeps everything stretchy and form-fitting. Gentle care preserves all three components.
